Fabvillas Travel Tips
Avoid the crowds!
Avoid the crowds! Probably the worst nightmare that holiday makers experience, other than having endured their 10 hour flight and arriving late afternoon is feeling shattered and going to bed with their body clock in complete disarray, is waking up at approx 05.00 to the Florida sunshine in sometimes familiar surroundings of their vacation rental home.

The kids squealing with delight and cant wait to get into the pool. Now comes the planning, which parks to hit and in which order? Probably the easiest and the most painless for day one, I would recommend Sea World, often described as a lazy day, especially for the average UK tourist whose only experience of a theme park is Alton Towers or Thorpe Park in England.

The sheer size of the USA theme parks is mind blowing. Acre upon acre of sheer joy, boy the Americans don’t do things by half.

How to get to them without too much hassle and to arrive in the right frame of mind to enjoy them can be an adventure in itself.

For Sea World and Universal the direct routing would be via the Interstate 4 or colloquially known as the I4. This is the upgraded M1 and at times can be very heavily laden with workaday traffic. Floridian commerce does not stop for theme parks. These two parks exits from the I4 are clearly defined and so its really a matter of enduring the minor inconvenience of the jams, even having to put up with the constant “are we nearly there yet”, emanating from the rear of the hired vehicle.

Whilst the Disney parks, which lets face it the average vacation villa home renter and owners are here for can be a whole different ball game and one that is in the not too distant future about to be made easier by the opening of the new 429 Beltway road linking the I4 accessed by the vacation rental villas situated on the Highway 27 to 192 and beyond to Disney.

At present the villa renters on the 27 have to either hit 192 and travel approx 4 miles to the junction with Formosa Gardens Boulevard, where the abruptly come to the equivalent of the M25 car park scenario. Stand still, Traffic jam, frustration call it what you will.

To avoid this impasse, here’s a tip. Once you have passed the second Publix grocery store take the next left into Black Lake Road follow this through to the junction with Entry Point road (you have been running parallel with 192 and the jams, probably with a knowing smile on your face as well.) Take a left turn which will lead you onto Sherberth Road, this road snakes about a bit and eventually you reach a set of traffic light. Turn right, (if you turned left you would go into the Animal Kingdom lodge resort). You then merge onto the Osceola Parkway which cuts right through the heart of Disney World property. Once you merge you can take the first left which gives you access to Animal Kingdom car park. Where you can pick up inter park Disney transportation to all the other theme parks under the Disney auspices.

Or you can continue on through the Disney property and divert following the well signed routes to the particular park of your choice. To get back home simply reverse the procedure and you have avoided a major bottle neck which florida villa owners refer to as the 192 jams.

By divulging this little secret, that has been well kept by the regular visitors to Florida and the clever vacation rental home owners. I may have created a new traffic jam, but hey anything is better than sitting, aircon blowing and 'are we nearly there yet?' Isn’t it?
