The course has recently been ranked in Golfweek’s “America’s best courses you can play” as #6 in Florida. Southern Dunes was designed by Steve Smyers and opened in 1993.The course offers players of all abilities the opportunity to play and enjoy one of the most challenging and beautiful courses in Central Florida. It is a lengthy course with rolling hills, steep elevation changes of 100 feet, sand bunkers and water hazards. There are large, fast, undulating greens and expansive fairways flanked by more than 170 bunkers of varying size and shape. The dunes are planted with shrubs, grasses and ornamentals. There is a pro shop, practise putting greens and a driving range. Buggies are fitted with the latest satellite navigation technology and if you get thirsty on the course, the refreshment buggy will be most welcome!! The luxurious clubhouse is also very popular, as it has a bar/restaurant, serving excellent breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. The low season for golf in Florida is from the beginning of June to the end of September, when a round will cost from $39 + tax (twilight rate). Clubs can be hired from the pro shop.
